It would be a gullible mistake to appreciate the savage chants of BRUJERIA with such serious concern. As extremely insensitive and abusively they cheer on Satanism, anti-christianity, sex, drugs, and racial prejudice (towards the white), they are still the brainiac of a truly ingenious own brand of ‘machete metal’ that is just plain brutal.

Formed in Tijuana, Mexico in the year 1989, their name comes from the Spanish word for “Witchcraft.” These masked musicians from south of the United States-Mexican border portray themselves as a satanic and murderous drug lords concealing their identity due to being wanted by the FBI for smuggling drugs and threatening to kill white people. Their music which are sung entirely in Spanish does not only focus on diabolical exaltation, but also on political mexican revolution and critics on U.S. immigration policies. Their embrace of preposterous violence follows a tradition of political humor that runs in the Chicano roots for centuries.

Despite their prejudice against white people, they have a vast majority of white members in the band, although their lineup do often change inconsistently and could be different at any time. Although their true identities will always remain an enigma, rumors say that BRUJERIA was founded by Fear Factory guitarist Dino Cazares and have featured metal legends such as Billy Gould (Faith No More), Nicholas Barker (Cradle of Filth), Raymond Herrera (Fear Factory), Jeff Walker (Carcass), and Shane Embury (Napalm Death). Recently they have performed live on stage across the United States and Latin America, but in their earlier years they have refused to go on tour, use real names, take photos, or even do any interviews.

Under the care of Roadrunner Records, Brujeria is a force of nature that fuses evil and anger into a raw aggressive dark satire.
